Sandra's story:

The path that led to becoming an electrologist

In 1984, I embarked on a transformative path to become an electrologist, marking a significant shift in my career trajectory. Prior to this, I had earned a bachelor's degree in Food Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia, emphasizing science courses that fueled my initial career goal as a medical laboratory technologist. Later, I ventured into quality control management, contributing my skills to two food processing companies.

Life took an unexpected turn when I noticed the emergence of chin hair, a development I either downplayed or managed with tweezers. The significance of this change became evident during my tenure in a food processing plant when a union steward, perhaps inadvertently, suggested the necessity of a beard cover. While initially hurtful, this comment served as a catalyst, pushing me to confront and address my facial hair concerns.

Promptly, I embarked on a journey of electrolysis treatments. This decision not only brought my facial hair under control but also presented a life-altering opportunity for a career change. Transitioning into the role of an electrologist, I found fulfillment in helping thousands of clients over the years who, like me, understood the distress caused by excess facial hair.

My story underscores the profound impact that challenges can have on one's life journey, leading to unexpected but rewarding transformations.
